Paul K. Neves resides on Hawaiian Homeland in Keaukaha, Hilo, Hawaiʻi with his wife Wanda, and two children, Akalā and Kinohi. Unikied Kumu Hula by Nona Kapuailohia Beamer, he established and presides over three halau that bears his family name, (Hālau Haʻa Kea o Akalā in Hawaiʻi, Hālau Haʻa Kea o Kinohi in California, and Hālau Haʻa Kea o Mokihana in Washington D.C.), and has been a judge of Hula competitions in Hawaiʻi and Japan.

Paul has been involved in spiritual, cultural, political, and sovereignty issues facing the kanaka maoli since 1984. A 20-year Pastoral Associate of the Roman Catholic Church, he is also the Aliʻi ʻAi Moku of Heiau O Māmala Hoa of the Royal Order of Kamehameha I. A graduate of the University of Geneva, Switzerland, Paul is a cultural expert who has conducted workshops and made presentations on Native Hawaiian issues throughout Hawaiʻi, and the United States, across Western Europe, the Cook Islands, Aotearoa, Puerto Rico, and the United Nations.

A decendent of Kaʻu, Pua was raised by his mother and maternal grandmother to malama the aina, respect his kupuna, and love the Hawaiian culture. Married to Gloria A. Duvauchelle of Kauai, he is the proud father of five beautiful daughters and one son (Alohiwailani, Kailani, Kauai, Kanoenani, Kiana, and Kahili). Pua’s life has been guided by his faith in God and love of family. Currently working with at-risk Native Hawaiian youth, Pua spends much of his free time serving the Hawaiian community and the Royal Order of Kamehameha I, Māmala Hoa as its Kākāʻōlelo (Speaking Chief). Pua received his law degree from Gonzaga University School of Law, Washington and his undergraduate degree from the University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo, Hawaiʻi.
